Pizza Margherita

Pizza Margherita is the one of the most popular flavor of pizza, mostly liked by kids. Try this delicious version of pizza at your kitchen.


  • 1 recipe pizza base,
  • 1 recipe to tomato sauce,
  • 10 to 12 fresh basil leave, roughly chopped, 1 cup cooking cheese or mozzarella
    cheese grated, 2 tbsp olive oil, butter or oil for greasing

For basic pizza base

  • 2 cups plain flour,2 tsp fresh yeast,1 tsp olive oil, 1 tsp salt and sugar.

For the tomato sauce

  • 4 large tomatoes, 2bay leave, 4 to 6 peppercorns, ¼ cup onions,chopped,1 tsp garlic chopped, ¼ cup onions, chopped, 1 tsp garlic, chopped, ¼ cup capsicum,chopped,1/4 cup tomato ketchup, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp dried oregano, 2 tbsp olive oil or oil, salt to taste.

For the basic pizza base

  • Combine all the ingredients except the oilive oil and knead into soft dough
  • Add the oil and knead again
  • Cover the dough with a wet muslin cloth and allow it to prove till it doubles in(approx 20 minutes).
  • Press the dough to remove the air.
  • Divide the dough into 2 equal parts.
  • Rolls each portion into a circle.

For the tomato sauce

  • Pierce the tomatoes
  • Boil in water till skin come out, peel it and chop the tomatoes finely and keep aside.
  • In another pan add the olive oil, bay leave and peppercorns and cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Add the onions, garlic and capsicum and cook another 3 minutes.
  • Then add tomatoes puree, ketchup, sugar, salt oregano and mix well.
  • Remove the bay leave and peppercorn.

How to proceed

  1. Using the oven grill option, preheat the microwave at 220c for 5 minutes.
  2. Place a pizza base on a g5reased crustly plate and bake at 220c for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove and spread half the tomato sauce on the base
  4. Sprinkle with half the basil leaves and cheese on top of the pizza
  5. Drizzle with half the olive oil and bake in preheated oven at 220c for 6 minutes or till the base is evenly brown
  6. Repeat with remaining ingredients to make another pizza.

Serve hot.

Preparing time 45 minutes.

Serving : 2 persons.
